At that time Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of Hezekiah's illness.

O LORD Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you I have committed my cause.

Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.

'These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'

The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD and where he showed himself holy among them.

When the LORD your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it.

Now surrender those wicked men of Gibeah so that we may put them to death and purge the evil from Israel." But the Benjamites would not listen to their fellow Israelites.

But if my father is inclined to harm you, may the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if I do not let you know and send you away safely. May the LORD be with you as he has been with my father.

Meanwhile a prophet came to Ahab king of Israel and announced, "This is what the LORD says: 'Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and then you will know that I am the LORD.'"

希西家听从使者的话,就把他宝库的金子、银子、香料、贵重的膏油和他武库的一切军器,并他所有的财宝,都给他们看。他家中和他全国之内,希西家没有一样不给他们看的。
Hezekiah received the messengers and showed them all that was in his storehouses--the silver, the gold, the spices and the fine oil--his armory and everything found among his treasures. There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.

Sing to the LORD! Give praise to the LORD! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.

以色列家却在旷野悖逆我,不顺从我的律例,厌弃我的典章(人若遵行,就必因此活着),大大干犯我的安息日。”“我就说:‘要在旷野将我的忿怒倾在他们身上,灭绝他们。
"'Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the desert. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the desert.

As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the LORD your God gives you from your enemies.

Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, "What did those men say, and where did they come from?" "From a distant land," Hezekiah replied. "They came from Babylon."
