Those who were about to question him withdrew immediately. The commander himself was alarmed when he realized that he had put Paul, a Roman citizen, in chains.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands."

Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.

This is what the LORD says: "Record this man as if childless, a man who will not prosper in his lifetime, for none of his offspring will prosper, none will sit on the throne of David or rule anymore in Judah."

"I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.

At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

The next day, since the commander wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews, he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them.

Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.

And Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, said to Reuben, Gad and Manasseh, "Today we know that the LORD is with us, because you have not acted unfaithfully toward the LORD in this matter. Now you have rescued the Israelites from the LORD'S hand."

"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

The angel of the LORD asked him, "Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.

Then Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, and the leaders returned to Canaan from their meeting with the Reubenites and Gadites in Gilead and reported to the Israelites.

When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, "Surely this is the king of Israel." So they turned to attack him, but when Jehoshaphat cried out,

'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."

But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD."

The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her."

以色列人以这事为美,就称颂 神,不再提上去攻打流便人、迦得人,毁坏他们所住的地了。
They were glad to hear the report and praised God. And they talked no more about going to war against them to devastate the country where the Reubenites and the Gadites lived.

When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

But he replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death."

巴兰对耶和华的使者说:“我有罪了,我不知道你站在路上阻挡我。你若不喜欢我去,我就转回。”
Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, "I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back."

流便人、迦得人给坛起名叫证坛。意思说:这坛在我们中间证明耶和华是 神。
And the Reubenites and the Gadites gave the altar this name: A Witness Between Us that the LORD is God.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.
